PGNAA
PGNAA (Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis) is a continuous analytical method for determining the chemical composition of bulk materials directly within the production process.
In PGNAA analysis, materials are irradiated with neutrons. The resulting gamma rays contain characteristic information about the elements present and enable continuous online analysis without the need for sample extraction.
The method is primarily used in the cement industry, mining, and raw material processing. Typical applications include monitoring raw meal compositions, ore qualities, and mixing ratios.
Unlike laboratory analyses, PGNAA provides continuous, real-time measurements. This allows production processes to be adjusted immediately and fluctuations in raw materials to be detected early on.
In modern quality control systems, PGNAA data is often combined with laboratory results to ensure optimal process control. PGNAA data is used in the Raw Mix Control module of PrepMaster Analytics to monitor raw meal composition.
