Presenting: HERZOG Steel Automation

HERZOG delivered a fully-automatic laboratory system for an Asian steel producer. The robot automation consists of two receiving circuits for the pneumatic transportation system, two circuits for preparation of steel and pig iron samples, one slag preparation line, one XRF analyzer, and three SteelLab cells for OES analysis. The system is designed for preparation and analysis of 1100 steel samples, 200 iron samples and 100 slag samples per 24 hours. In a further expansion step, the system can be upgraded for processing of up to 1600 steel samples per 24 hours.
The laboratory system employs latest hardware and software technologies. The HS-F 1000 milling machine ensures fast preparation times, an optimal analysis surface and significantly longer tool life of cutting inserts. The SteelLab OES cells guarantee the seamless integration of analysis and recalibration processes into the operations of the whole automation. PrepMaster Analytics is the Smart Industry Solution by HERZOG and provides a complete overview on system performance including, e.g., Tool Condition Monitoring, service applications and management of analysis results. The SCADA system PrepMaster Core has been set up using the integrated development environment PrepMaster IDE. This enables a fast and efficient start-up at site and complete access of the customer to all laboratory procedures.
