name of the term: ICP-OES
descriptions of the term:

ICP-OES

ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy) is an analytical technique used for the highly accurate elemental analysis of liquid samples. It is widely applied in environmental laboratories, chemical laboratories, the food industry, and the mining sector.

The sample is first brought into solution and then introduced into an inductively coupled plasma. Within the plasma, the elements are excited and emit characteristic light at specific wavelengths, which is measured spectroscopically to determine the elemental composition.

ICP-OES enables the simultaneous determination of numerous elements over a wide concentration range and is characterized by high sensitivity, excellent precision, and short analysis times.

Sample preparation is a critical part of the overall analytical process. Typical preparation steps include digestion, dilution, filtration, and reagent dosing to ensure reliable and reproducible analytical results.

With LiquidLab, HERZOG offers a modular platform for fully automated sample preparation and liquid handling for ICP-OES applications. The system automates the complete workflow, from sample digestion through dosing, filtration, and dilution to the transfer of the prepared sample to the ICP-OES instrument. This reduces manual intervention, improves reproducibility, and enables a fully automated analytical workflow.
