name of the term: SCADA
descriptions of the term:

SCADA

SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) refers to a software system for the centralized monitoring, control, and data acquisition of industrial plants. In automated laboratories, a SCADA system coordinates all process steps—from sampling and sample preparation to analysis and result transmission.

Modern SCADA systems enable real-time visualization of plant status, management of recipes and workflows, and integration with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ERP systems, and process control systems. In addition, they provide alarm functions, fault diagnosis, and traceability for all work steps.

In automated laboratories for the cement, mining, steel, and other industries, the SCADA system serves as the central control level. It ensures that samples are automatically routed to the correct stations and that analysis results are assigned to the corresponding production processes.

With PrepMaster Core, HERZOG offers a SCADA system developed specifically for laboratory automation applications that combines machine control, sample tracking, data management, and interface integration into a single platform.
